Holding onto what isn’t ours is exhausting. Ways of living life, the patterns and habits that come from family, friends, teachers and coworkers are all things we take on as we grow up. We copy the adults in our lives, then we copy people we like and admire. We become someone we aren’t and were never meant to be. We let other people decide what we like and don’t like, and what we want and don’t want in our lives.
Yet in all this, the one thing we didn’t do is check with our higher mind and divine intelligence. Chances are we didn’t know we had a higher mind to check in with to determine if something was a good idea for us. But we did have our intuition. Because our intuition didn’t match up with what other people wanted from us, we learned at a young age to ignore the inner voice screaming at us to not take that path. That was the voice of our higher mind and soul. We learned to ignore everything except what was outside ourselves. Our life became a series of poor choices and bad outcomes. To add insult to injury, we then listened to the voices both internal and external that told us we only have ourselves to blame. That inner voice, by the way is not our higher mind.
The past is over and done. We don’t have a time machine to go back and do it all over again, so regret about the past is a pointless and self destructive exercise. Think about: when you revisit an old situation do you come away feeling upbeat and empowered or discouraged and defeated. I rest my case. Leave the past to the past.
Now it is time to let the past and all it bad decisions go. What’s done is done. The life we are here to live — the life of our higher mind and soul — is waiting for us. All we have to do is acknowledge who we truly are and stop pretending to be something small and powerless. It is time to become the wise, magnificent being we are and step out onto our life path.
Embracing who we truly are is so much easier than holding onto the false. The old, false persona is exhausting to hold onto; and it was never ours to begin with.
Affirmation: I am one with my higher mind and soul.
