Walking the Spiritual Path May 20

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. Calvin Coolidge

On our journey along the spiritual path, there will come times when we’re tired and discouraged. It seems like we have tried and done everything we could. But until we reach our goal, being tired and discouraged is not a reason to stop. It is simply a reason to try again tomorrow.

This is the value of breaking something down into bite-sized pieces or daily tasks. We cannot always count on feeling motivated. But daily rituals and taking small steps are always there for us to try again tomorrow. It’s in putting enough of these small steps together that enormous strides are made; not all at one, but building on each other over weeks, months and years.

As long as we keep putting one foot in front of the other, our success is guaranteed.

Affirmation: Today I embrace being persistent and consistent.
