Walking the Spiritual Path May 3

Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy. Saadi

Our patience will achieve more than our force. Edmund Burke

Lord, please give me patience, ’cause if you give me strength, I’m gonna need bail money to go along with it.

Walking the spiritual path isn’t always easy. Sometimes it’s a challenge that seems never ending; a mountain that is never scaled, and success that is never achieved. Sometimes everything we know to say and do just isn’t working, and for all our hard work, we keep ending up in the same spot, which is where we don’t want to be.

It’s tempting in times like this to blame others. That doesn’t work though, and doesn’t solve anything. It is a temporary distraction. When you know what to do, dig in. Stop buying your own excuses (no matter how good they are). Do what you need to do.

Sometimes the stuck-ness of old unwanted patterns seems unconquerable. But that’s not true. Destructive ways of looking at the world have a tendency to reinforce themselves. We can point to lots of negative experiences that “prove us right.” But that is the uncomfortable part of having spiritual power. We make our own life in the image of our thoughts and beliefs.

So in this uncomfortable time and place, meet yourself where you are at. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Success is coming. Have the patience to wait for results.
