Walking the Spiritual Path April 8

The most difficult thing is the decision to act. The rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. Amelia Earhart

Putting action behind our dreams, desires and goals is what makes an idea into reality. It is easy to dream, to make to-do lists, and tell ourselves that “someday we will get to that.” Until we actually take an action, our dreams remain castles in the sky.

Taking that first step feels scary. So we hesitate. Through the doorway of that fear, the doubts creep in. We tell ourselves that we will start right after something happens. Notice the subtle lie here. It’s not that we will never do it, it’s that we won’t do it yet. This is the sneaky distraction of the conscious mind/ego/lower self. This part of us doesn’t want to pursue the spiritual path. It doesn’t want what belongs to our higher self. If it came right out and said that, it would get kicked to the curb. So instead, it peddles doubt, lies and delay.

To sincerely commit ourselves to our spiritual path and the things that belong to our higher mind and soul, we must act. The truth is we just need to take the first step, and our higher self will show us the next step, and the one after that. We don’t need to have it all figured out to begin with. This is another lie spun by the conscious mind and lower self.

All we really have to do it pluck up our courage, face down the paper tigers and act.

Affirmation: Today I act.
